Search for people within the FanGap network of sites. In order to become their friend, just click on the Fangap site they're a member of and create your own profile. If you're creating profiles on multiple FanGap sites, make sure you register at each site using the same user name and password that you used on previous sites this will enable you to share your profile with other sites within the network.
